As a community college that focuses on affordable, two-year academic, and continuing education programs, LaGuardia launches students who would not otherwise be able to access education and training to four-year colleges, universities, and into the workforce.

Imagine a level playing field for students
Our students have determination, intelligence, and incredible resilience. What our students don’t always have are financial support, mentors and equal access to career opportunities to help them move up the economic ladder.
Financial Support
Many students come from households with less than $25,000 in annual income and some work two or three jobs to afford tuition and living expenses. As a result, our students may take fewer classes per semester and have a harder time graduating in two-years. With support from our generous donors, we provide:
- Scholarships to help with tuition and other college expenses so that degree-seeking students stay in school and graduate with an associate degree and transfer to a four-year school.
- ACE Scholarships to help students in the Division of Adult and Continuing Education (ACE) get the workforce training or English language learning they need to get certifications and jobs.
- Emergency Funds to cover urgent costs like textbooks, transportation, rent, utilities, or healthcare so students can continue their education without interruption.
Professional Development
Access creates opportunity. We help students build their networks and professional skills and offer financial support in the form of stipend or payroll through:
- Programs like the President’s Society that teach our students the professional skills needed to succeed in today’s competitive world.
- Internships and well-paying campus jobs that give our students access to networks and professional opportunities that are taken for granted at other institutions.
